Blue Shield offers two plan options for Medicare-eligible Health Service System retirees and family members.The Access+ HMO (Medicare Coordinated) plan is only available to Health Service System retirees who do not reside in the Blue Shield 65 Plus service area.

ATTENTION: On page 15 of your HSS 2010-2011 Retired Employees Benefits Guide included in the HSS Open Enrollment packet you recently received, Blue Shield of California’s service area coverage for Alameda County was not listed correctly.

Alameda County is in the Access+ HMO (Medicare Coordinated) and Access+ HMO service areas.

ATTENTION current Blue Shield Access+ HMO (Medicare Coordinated) plan members:
The Blue Shield of California Medicare Rx Plan (PDP) Evidence of Coverage (EOC) document you recently received indicated the incorrect plan year dates. The correct dates are July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
